Haiti Well Given Green Light

This week Water 10:42 moved forward with a well repair in Larousse, Haiti.  In 2010 a massive earthquake rocked the country of Haiti leaving over 200,000 people dead with an additional 300,000 injured as well as leveling hundreds of thousands of buildings and homes.

One issue left behind after the quake was numerous broken water wells.  The shaking broke equipment, busted pipes, and cracked casings leaving a vast amount of the population without access to clean water.

Project Details:

  • The church property will serve as a community water resource
  • Currently people are walking 2-3 miles to obtain clean water from the next village
  • Clean water will be available to the children who attend school every day at the church
  • Medical mission trips that were halted at this location, due to the lack of clean water, can resume
  • The United Nations declared this property a disaster response location for any future disasters that may occur
  • The repaired well will serve upwards of 1,000 people with clean drinking water
  • In addition to the well, Water 10:42 will be installing a large water filtration system to ensure clean and safe drinking water
